steve white - junk bond salesman of the trash science of dog training - flipping the script1/11/2016 my lifetime ban from dog star daily - flipping the script on the trash science of dog training1/11/2016 With the recent article published on Victoria Stilwell’s website “Confessions of a Dog Trainer; I have a Reactive Dog.” It seems the hypocrisy of many trainers who continue to offer advice for behavior issues they can’t resolve with their own personal dogs is right out in the open now for all to see. While the author of this article attempts to reconcile this well known fact and petition support those whose client base consists of 50 percent of those failing out from this weak and permissive ideology understand the depth of this hypocrisy. The author tells the story of her shame with owning a dog with issues and with coming to grips with being unable to resolve them as a dog behaviorist. Her not wearing her company logo as she walked her dog in public as to not trigger shame with others noticing the glaring contradiction with owning a dog with issues and being a trainer. The author tells the story of her journey of acceptance with owning a behavior ridden dog while still offering advice to others dealing with behavior issues.
While some may come into agreement with this morally bankrupt journey of self discovery involving an ideology which consumes ones identity those who understand what this belief system represents for dogs and owners are not buying. Those who promote the idea that training is a learning based exercise continue to struggle to overcome behavior issues even while knowing that there are serious problems. Rather than self auditing these issues and at least going through the motions that this is real science this group invests the majority of its time attempting to discredit others who challenge this ideology as fatally flawed. Perhaps the line which best sums up how many would respond to both the author and this article regarding the lame attempt to reconcile the hypocrisy which underpins this ideology would be said by Jack Nicholson’s Character in “As Good as it Gets” with “Sorry but I am not Buying Crazy Today.” |
